Physical fields
Decide which quantities the model must reproduce before choosing the model.
- Surface: Pressure, wall shear stress, heat flux. Loads, lift and drag, hot spots: what designers integrate.
- Volume: Velocity, pressure, vorticity, temperature, turbulence quantities. Wakes, vortices, separation, mixing: what explains the surface numbers.
- Integral: Lift, drag and moment coefficients, efficiency. The few numbers that decide a design; scalar surrogates stop here.
